Welcome to a Newly Reinstated ILSI Mexico

In November 2015, the ILSI Board of Trustees suspended the branch for violating ILSI’s strict policy precluding any activities related to advocacy for or against specific legislation or regulatory decision, and outlined precise requirements ILSI Mexico had to take to reestablish its relationship with the organization. These included:

• Replacing staff leadership and the industry members of Board of Trustees
• Adopting policies and practices to ensure public trustees have full, equal, and active roles in leading ILSI Mexico
• Training trustees, new staff, and members on policies and procedures with ILSI’s legal counsel
• ILSI’s review of ILSI Mexico’s proposed work plan and activities for 2016 and 2017
• ILSI’s ability to review and interview contractors and other individuals engaged by ILSI Mexico to implement and promote research programs, events, and other scientific activities

The Board is pleased to announce ILSI Mexico has implemented each requirement and has been fully reinstated into the ILSI network. We welcome Edurne Balmori, Metco, and Nimbe Torres, PhD, National Institute of Nutrition, who have assumed the roles of President and Scientific President respectively, and Eduardo Cervantes, who is ILSI Mexico’s new executive director.
